A chain of coordinated attacks on social networks and online sites, which then culminated in the public lynching of journalists from Albania and Kosovo after their informational visit to Israel, is not unknown to Albanian authorities.
Sources confirm that, before the target shifted to journalists, members of the Security Committee in the Albanian Parliament were the object of attacks and a deliberate campaign of intimidation.
The MPs were attacked for having previously been to Israel, as part of the Albania-Israel Friendship Parliamentary Group. Sources indicate that this institutional presence on the ground was one of the main reasons for their targeting in the denigrating campaign that followed.
Furthermore, a denigrating video was produced and distributed, using photos of MPs, publicly displayed with political and religious labels, in an open attempt at intimidation and public pressure. The MPs attacked belong to all political forces, which excludes any biased partisan interpretation and strengthens suspicions of an organized operation.
Members of the committee faced online denigration campaigns, according to the same scheme that was later used against journalists: public labeling, incitement to hatred, and open attempts at intimidation.
It is learned that these MPs have put the State Intelligence Service into motion, referring to materials and indications that speak of an organized digital operation, with clear elements of radicalization.
As a result, a dual investigation by cybercrime and anti-terror structures has been launched. The investigative procedures are focusing on the origin of the attacks, the networks that amplify them, and possible links to foreign radical Islamic associations or groups.
Sources indicate that the Anti-Terror is expected to question all the people involved, who are currently under surveillance.
Another element that has aggravated the situation is the fact that the attacks have also spread from business pages and commercial profiles, which has raised serious suspicions of violations of the social platform's policies. For this reason, official reports have been filed with the company Meta, which has strict policies against incitement to hatred and anti-Semitism.
This background sheds light on the fact that the lynching of journalists after the visit to Israel was not a spontaneous reaction, but part of a structured and synchronized operation, which initially tested the ground by hitting national security institutions and representatives.
