Investigative journalist, Artan Hoxha, expressed doubts about the report of the General Prosecutor's Office on Crime in 2023.
Hoxha said on the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV that the SPAK report was more detailed and more real, while that of the General Prosecutor's Office was a report based on referrals and thus does not give a real picture of the level of criminality, as there are areas with high criminality where reports to the police are low.
"There must be reconciliation between the General Prosecutor's Office and SPAK. I think that the report made by SPAK is more detailed and more realistic, because it shows what happens. The General Prosecutor's Office uses a method that is very cold, dry that does not need to deal with statistics and figures. For several years in a row, as far as I have followed the report, the district with the biggest problem of crime, Gjirokastra, and the district with the least, Dibra, are reported. In fact it is the opposite. In the district of Gjirokastra, everything that is in their culture is denounced. It includes Përmeti, Tepelena, Këlcyra, Libohova, Dropulli. In Përmet, it is not known when the last murder took place. They are areas where the population is very small.
This report made in this way does not give a real picture. The district of Gjirokastra is head to head with Vlora and imagine how much the population goes there during the summer and what problems there are.
