GJKKO has rejected Fredi Beler's request to be sworn in as the elected mayor of Himara. After hearing from the parties, where lawyers argued that Beller should be given permission to take the oath, prosecutors said that this is not possible as it is not provided for in the law. Likewise, the Directorate of Prisons stated that this is not provided for in the law.
After the rejection of Beler's request, Vangjel Dule spoke outside the court and declared that this was a decision announced a week ago by the Prime Minister, Edi Rama.
" A forewarned decision. The Prime Minister of the country preceded the court's decision with his verdict last week. The Beleri case is just a cacophony in justice, where the orchestra and interpretation is made by the country's prime minister. Beleri is deprived of his constitutional right for 7 months and every citizen of Himara is deprived of the right to vote.
Rama demands at all costs to keep an unvoted mayor at the head of the municipality of Himara, in order to continue the corrupt affairs, aimed at the alienation of property status, in favor of clients. This is not interference in the affairs of justice, it is an opinion that everyone can express ", said Dule.
Along with Dule, a handful of Beler's supporters were present, who unfurled a large banner that read: " Himara chose Beler as mayor, tyranny will not win ." Beler's supporters started cheering for the decision: " Shame, shame, shame... "
It is worth noting that despite great pressure from Athens, justice did not change its position on this issue.
Meanwhile, the senate has also been accompanied by tensions and accusations by Beler against justice. During the hearing, he said that his detention is due to the prime minister's interests. He also added that there was political pressure on SPAK and GJKKO for his case.
" An injustice is being done to me for political and financial interests. Prolonging, postponing, forwarding from court to court, your actions to postpone the hearing are not the right way for the court to deliver justice. You are hurting me, but also my family. You are also causing hostility, dividing us into Greeks and non-Greeks. The support of the citizens of Himara has given me strength. Justice delayed is justice denied. We are hearing miracles in this trial.
Today, someone who is not mandated by the voters is running the municipality of Himara. Meanwhile, he is awarding tenders and abusing the municipality of Himara by allowing constructions without permission. I'm being held in prison because that's what the prime minister cares about. The continuous insistence of SPAK to oppose the request despite the fact that it is not a legal obligation shows the political pressure it has. The GJKKO and prisons are clearly under pressure. I was mandated to run the municipality, I was elected by the voters of Himara, who trusted me in the selection process as a candidate, but also for the coalition, we win together, but also as the winner of the elections ", said Beleri during the session.
We remind you that Alfred Beleri, who was elected in the May 14 local elections as the mayor of Himarë Municipality, was arrested two days before the voting for "active corruption in the elections" and therefore could not take the oath as he was not given permission to leave the cell./ Pamphlet
