Lawyer Edmond Petraj says that if Ilir Meta wins the mandate of MP in the parliamentary elections on May 11, his lawyers will request the replacement of the "prison arrest" measure.
In an interview for a television show, Petraj said that after winning the mandate, one must wait for the certification of the elections by the CEC.
"It is a procedural aspect. With the certification of the elections, if Mr. Meta is elected MP, we are waiting for him, he will take the oath, but there is a chance. His lawyers know the procedure well. The moment he is certified, a request is made to the court for the release of Mr. Meta. This is an accelerated aspect. We do not say that on May 12, as long as it is certified by the Central Election Commission. We may have disputes, problems. The moment he wins the mandate, the defense party has the duty to obtain the certification and make the request", he emphasized.
