
For more than a month, by order of US President Donald Trump, an investigation has been launched regarding all funds allocated by the US, mainly through USAID, in projects applied in various countries of the world. Albania is one of the countries that has benefited from funds, although compared to other countries in the region, it ranks penultimate.
So what is happening with the investigation into USAID funds for the Balkans, which includes Albania?
In the official response that the State Department sent to Top News, it is stated that the State Department and USAID have reviewed approximately 15,600 foreign assistance awards, contracts, and grants.
According to DASH, the actions the administration is taking are undoing decades of losses, fraud, and abuse.
"The American people gave President Trump a mandate to eradicate inefficiency throughout the federal government.
The Secretary has worked diligently since being sworn in to review every dollar spent at the U.S. Department of State and USAID to ensure that taxpayer resources are being used to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
To date, the State Department and USAID have reviewed approximately 15,600 foreign assistance awards, contracts, and grants.
The actions the administration is taking are undoing decades of waste, fraud, and abuse. As Secretary Rubio said, “in the long run it will be beneficial because we will be able to say that every program that we are out there operating serves the national interest because it makes us safer, stronger, or more prosperous,” the official statement said.
