Rama's warning does not stop the market, oil reaches 214 lek/liter

The price of oil in Albania has marked an immediate increase, just one day after Prime Minister Edi Rama warned market operators to avoid abuses, otherwise the Transparency Board may be reinstated.

Within 24 hours, the price of diesel has increased by 12 lek per liter, while at some gas stations in Tirana the price has reached up to 214 lek/liter.

The increase comes at a time when the market has been affected by developments in the Middle East. Since the start of the conflict, the price of oil in the country has increased by about 40 lek per liter.

Before the escalation of the situation, oil was trading in the range of 173–175 lek/liter, reflecting a significant increase in a short period.
