Appeal in collapse - Court acknowledges that infrastructure does not serve citizens
The Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in Tirana is facing a difficult functional situation, where the institution itself admits that current conditions are not in line with the requirements of service to citizens.
In an official response to the "National Association of Media and Justice", it is clearly stated that: "currently the infrastructural conditions do not meet the functional needs of the Court and service to citizens."
This situation comes at a time when the Appeals Court functions as a court with general jurisdiction for the entire country, dealing with a high volume of cases with limited capacity.
The court also suffered a negative impact due to the excessive delays in the adjudication of criminal and civil cases. But what sealed the failure of this court and the justice system in Albania was precisely the murder in the courtroom of a member of this court, Judge Astrit Kalaja.

Cybersecurity - Report reveals where Albania ranks globally
Albania ranks 9th in the world in terms of cybersecurity, according to the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI), with a score of 92.5 points.
This ranking represents a significant improvement compared to previous years, reflecting a steady climb from 54th place in 2023 and 15th place in 2025, towards a ranking among the most advanced countries globally in this area. The
NCSI assessment is based on the analysis of national capacities for managing cyber risks, including the legal and policy framework, the protection of essential services, the management of cyber incidents, as well as capacity development and international cooperation.
During this period, the responsible structures have successfully managed a series of cyber incidents and threats, strengthening the capacities for identification, analysis and response in real time. The experience generated from these cases has directly contributed to the improvement of protection mechanisms and increasing the sustainability of information systems at the national level.
Albania is appreciated for its progress in strengthening the structures responsible for cybersecurity, developing national policies and strategies, as well as improving coordination mechanisms and response to threats in the digital space.
Peleshi expelled the opposition from the delegation to the Bundestag - DP revolts against the Speaker of the Parliament: Unprecedented!
The Democratic Party parliamentary group has publicly explained the absence of the opposition in the official delegation of the Albanian Parliament to the Bundestag.
The DP accuses Niko Peleshi of an unprecedented act for a Speaker of the Parliament, who deliberately removed the two names designated by the opposition, so that the DP would be excluded from institutional representation.
According to the Democratic parliamentary group, on March 4, the Speaker of the Parliament Peleshi himself had sent them a request to appoint two deputies to this delegation.
On behalf of the chairman of the parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi, Tomorr Alizoti (vice chairman of the parliamentary group and also vice chairman of the Albania-Germany Friendship Group) and Klevis Balliu (vice chairman of the Security Committee and also member of the Albania-Germany Friendship Group) were appointed.
"The names of the representatives of the Democratic Party were deliberately removed to exclude the DP from institutional representation. Unfortunately, this decision shows how light years away from the democratic standards of the German Bundestag the leadership of the parliamentary majority is today," the reaction states.
The DP Parliamentary Group describes this decision as a sign far from the democratic standards of the German Bundestag and emphasizes that treating the opposition "as an enemy" does not undo the problems of the majority's ties to organized crime and corruption.
