Speeches in front of the Prime Minister's Office end, while protesters have begun marching in the streets of Tirana
After finishing their speeches in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, the protesters began marching through the streets of Tirana, continuing their protest action for the 27th time in a row.
Hundreds of citizens, initially gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office, began the movement along the main boulevards of the capital, accompanied by national flags and banners with anti-government messages. During the march, chants such as "Rama resigns", "Down with dictatorship" and "Revolution, new Albania" were heard repeatedly, while participants demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and political change.
Earlier, on the podium set up in front of the Prime Minister's Office, citizens from different areas of the country spoke, sharing their concerns about the economic situation, immigration, pensions, healthcare, and political developments in the country. Among the speakers were former supporters of the Socialist Party, citizens who had returned from emigration, as well as representatives of various professions, who called for the continuation of the protests.
The march is attended by citizens of different age groups, including young people, pensioners, families and parents accompanied by their children. During the rally, a banner with the inscription "The Cham issue requires action" was also unfurled, while citizens from Kosovo also joined the protest, expressing their support for the protesters.
According to the organizers, the protest will continue on Saturday with a nationwide mobilization, where citizens from all over the country have been invited to participate.
For several days, the demands articulated by the coordination group have been the non-negotiable resignation of the Prime Minister, the creation of a 12-month caretaker government, and significant constitutional interventions. Among other things, they have called for amending the Electoral Code, amending the law on the financing of political parties, and limiting the exercise of the Prime Minister's office to no more than 2 terms.
For the first time, attacks were also articulated in the protest against Ramush Haradinaj and Ali Ahmeti, who came out in support of the protests. It was the former director of the State Police, Mit'hat Havari, who attacked them, while for Prime Minister Edi Rama he said that if he does not resign peacefully, he will end up like the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The protesters also took care to give voice to the Cham issue through a banner with the inscription "the Cham issue requires action, not words," as today marks the 82nd anniversary of the Greek genocide against the Albanians of Chameria.
