Twenty cities in the country will be equipped with a system of smart cameras in order to increase community safety, protect life and private property, and monitor road traffic.
Tv Klan has revealed the list of 20 cities where these devices will be installed, which will be functional 24 hours a day.
In 5 of the cities, namely Kamëz, Vlorë, Lezhë, Rrëshen and in a part of Tirana, the installation of smart cameras has started.
Through these high-resolution devices, the situation on the ground is monitored, the movement of each vehicle, and the license plates of cars declared 'alert' are identified.
High-resolution smart cameras also work in audio and provide clear images even of suspects moving on foot or in a vehicle.
The cities determined to be part of the "Smart City" project have been selected by the Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with the State Police based on the level of criminality they have.
The project for smart camera monitoring of 20 cities will cost a total of 60 million Euros, where a significant part of the value will be provided by the United Arab Emirates.
