Lawyer Mirash Ndoci, who defended Dorian Alina, one of those arrested as the author of the attack on Sokol Mêngjesi, clarified the reasons for this act. He excused his client as he stated that the attack was neither intentional nor planned.
Lawyer Ndoci said that he was abused in the media because according to him there was no coordination between the young people or the order for this situation.
While clarifying the conflict between the parties that degraded into physical violence, the lawyer states that 'the euphoria of age, the affected cedar and hot-temperedness, led to the irresistible and not at all graceful reaction of Dorian Aliaj, who at the moment when he understood the situation surrendered to the police . The involvement of the two cousins Drivald Alia and Elton Kasaj as well as the friend Romario Tabaku are random and not at all organized".
" In light of recent events and taking into account the importance of transparency and professionalism in dealing with legal issues, I would like to clarify some important aspects related to the situation and my client, Dorian Alia.
Although I am the representative of the suspects, I am a lawyer and I feel deeply affected by what happened to my colleague and friend and at the same time I find the opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery. Our profession puts us in front of challenges that require prudence and professionalism to overcome. The actions carried out by Dorian Alia were not deliberate and calculated at all.
Such a situation should not happen to anyone, as he regretted and himself expressed, apologizing before the Court for the uncontrolled and impulsive action against the lawyer Sokol Mêngjesi. Apologizing to the lawyer's family and in particular to his children, but also to the opinion and society that was greatly affected by the event. I cannot fail to mention the fact that it has been abused in the media by coming to conclusions for which the competent bodies will express themselves, it is not ethical and aggravates the situation, the conclusions of the media that there was a coordination between young people or that there had a customer for this situation.
It is true that the starting point of this situation is the inheritance of the property, the legal representative for the systematization (return) of which was lawyer Sokol Mêngjesi. The property in question is the inheritance of Mrs. Albana Nano, mother-in-law of Dorian Aliajt (husband of the only daughter of the Nano family). The long ordeals of returning properties to the courts and the problems encountered with the forgeries of accompanying documentation are well known. Property problems, representation and suspected manipulations have made Mrs. Albana Nano to turn to the competent bodies by filing a criminal report with the aim of compliance with the expertise for the writing and signatures in the order contract. As the suspect himself testifies, he has not contacted lawyer Sokol Mêngjesi before.
There was a meeting between his father-in-law Mr. Dritan Nano and the lawyer in February 2024, where Dorian Alia stayed at a distance and followed the development of the conversation with inappropriate tones on the part of the lawyer for the claims raised for payments on the representation performed. Family conversations made the situation known and reopened the problem. It is known that when property is discussed and even more so about their unjust extortion, there cannot be an atmosphere of calm. The euphoria of age, the affected cedar and the hot-bloodedness, led to the irresistible and not at all elegant reaction of Dorian Aliaj, who, the moment he understood the situation, surrendered to the police. The involvement of the two cousins Drivald Alia and Elton Kasaj as well as the friend Romario Tabaku are random and not at all organized. I emphasize that Dorian Alia's family members (wife and children, father-in-law Dritan Nano and mother-in-law Albana Nano) were in Pogradec at the time when the incident happened.
Mr. has just been contacted by the police. Dritan Nano himself went to Tirana to appear at the police premises. When suspect Dorian Alia was detained, he was informed that he was suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Deliberate grievous bodily harm" carried out in collaboration, provided for by Article 88-25 of the Criminal Code. With the administration of the acts by the prosecution body, the suspect's position was aggravated by bringing him before the Court for the criminal offense of "Resisting and hitting the judge", provided for by Article 316 of the Criminal Code. We invite the public and the media to show prudence and wait for the decisions of the competent bodies, avoiding prejudices and inciting unnecessary tensions. In this way, we can all contribute to a fair and transparent process", says the reaction of lawyer Mirash Ndoci.
