SPAK requested the security measure of "house arrest" with police supervision for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha during today's session at GJKKO.
In addition, in the request of SPAK, it is requested that Berisha be prohibited from communicating with other people except family members.
The lawyer of Reestablishment, Franc Nuri, said in an interview for Euronews Albania that SPAK's action against Berisha, at a time when the latter is elderly and is not socially dangerous.
" It is a serious measure that has been requested by SPAK for the court. In relation to house arrest, it is one of the most serious measures, as it is envisaged that a policeman will be at the door with a list of family members. What was not known is to demand a total ban on communication. Both of these measures are extreme and are illegal in the present case, as these measures are only provided for people with criminal records. Berisha is over 70 years old, there is no kind of social danger, nor the risk of spoiling the evidence, it is exaggerated. Why is house arrest required for a 79-year-old person and a guard is also required , "said the lawyer.
