At around 13:52 on December 15, 2023, in the premises of the internal regime of IEVP Peqin, Sokol Mjacaj came out of his cell and approached the cell window of Arben Lleshi, whom he called by name, and he shot.
His cellmate Indrit Shaqja, who is receiving treatment at the prison hospital in Tirana, was also injured accidentally with a bullet in his leg.
Sokol Mjacaj shot 5 times with a pistol from the window of the cell where his target was located. Two bullets caused the death of Arben Lleshi on the spot, one bullet injured Indrit Shaqe.

According to the testimony he gave to the investigator, Sokol Mjacaj had the pistol for 20 days.
From the moment of the murder inside the Peqin high security prison until now, Sokol Mjacaj, the 28-year-old sentenced to life for the murder of 2 Czech tourists in the Dukagjin area in 2015, is kept in a secret place.
There, the investigators are asking him why he killed Arben Lleshi in the cell, sentenced to life for the murder in 2013 in England, of Agim Hoxha, whom he burned alive inside the car.
