"The protest was a victory for Berisha", Ergys Mërtiri reveals

Journalist Ergys Mërtiri declares that the October 7 protest, considered the first day of civil disobedience, was a victory for Sali Berisha, but not for the opposition.

Invited to the show Opinion, Mërtiri said that through this protest Berisha was reaffirmed as the head of the opposition against his rivals, while on the other hand he served Prime Minister Edi Rama to stay at the head of the government.

According to Ergys Mërtir, the protest as a whole was a failure as it did not attract gray voters, but only had militants.

"The protest was a failure, this kind of protest only serves Edi Rama. People wait for what will happen and nothing happens. These types of views have been made since 2018. In the end, they did not produce any results at all. The participation was that we don't have opposition people, we have party militants. The protest showed that it was abandoned by the citizens. The only thing it produced was smoke and flames.

A protest should aim to attract the gray electorate. It did not produce this. People stayed away from the protest, but when they see smoke and flames they are outraged by it. I don't think that Berisha has failed with it, he won, but the opposition did not win, Berisha won. With this, Berisha has won against his rivals in the opposition, to stay as the leader of the opposition, while Rama stays at the head of the government", emphasized Mërtiri.
