One of the most important proposals presented during the 28th day of the national protest was the establishment of a National Citizens' Assembly, which according to the organizers will represent the voice of protesters and citizens.
Speaking from the protest podium, one of the participants announced that the idea has been discussed for days with the coordination group and that work on its implementation has begun.
According to him, so far, about 500 potential candidates have been identified, from which a broad representation will be selected.
" During the protest, I spoke about establishing a National Citizens' Assembly. I received the consent of a large part of the people here in the square. We also discussed it with the protest coordination group and we have started working to do this. About 500 potential candidates have been gathered. But, before we continue, we need your approval. Do you agree to continue such work or not? ", he addressed the protesters.
The question was met with cheers and a massive "Yes" response from the crowd gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
The speaker explained that the goal is for the National Citizens' Assembly to consist of no less than 300 representatives, who will represent the different segments of society and the protest itself.
" At the moment those people are selected, there will be no less than 300, so a very broad representation to represent all segments of the protest. They will come here before the people and each one will have to receive approval from the people ," he declared.
According to the initiators, no one will be elected by small groups or by closed decisions, but only with the approval of the protesters.
" There will be no one who is elected by himself or by small groups, only with the approval of the entire protesting people ," he concluded.
The proposal was received with applause from the participants, while the organizers are expected to make public the further steps for the creation of this civic forum in the coming days.
