Brazilian authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Albanian citizen Ervin Mata, 38, known as a high-profile businessman living in Brazil.
Mata is a well-known name to the Albanian public, as he was involved in the incident that occurred at the "Monopol" bar, during the clash with Ervis Martinaj where Fabiol Gaxha was killed.
Journalist Eni Ferhati said on the Now show on Euronews Albania that Ervin Mata's name has been rather mythologized and his power in drug trafficking is not compared to other criminal organizations that also operate in Latin America, such as the Cops or the Chelët.
" Ervin Mata's name is associated with a myth that has been created for him, I can describe him as one of the largest cocaine wholesalers from Latin America to European countries, however, from the recent cases that SkyEcc has discovered, Ervin Mata seems like a very small fish in relation to the Çopjat or the criminal group of the Çela brothers. I have information that Ervis Çela is in other countries in Latin America. His name first became known in the massacre of the former Blloku in 2018 where the bodyguard of Ervis Martinaj, with whom he had a conflict, lost his life and was exposed by a SPAK file in 2023 ," said Ferhati.
