
After the alarm issued regarding the infection of the West Nile virus, the Ministry of Health reacted, which asked the citizens to be vigilant and not to spread panic.
In its announcement, the ministry clarifies that in 80 percent of cases this virus passes without symptoms, 20 percent are those who experience fever and pain, of which only 1 percent in severe forms. Since the infection is transmitted by insects to humans, the ministry announces that with the PIH and the Health Care Operator, it has taken measures to carry out the disinsection process and performs periodic entomological monitoring throughout the country.
"Stay calm, but be alert. Raise awareness and implement protective measures. West Nile virus infection is mainly transmitted by the bites of infected mosquitoes. 80% of infected people show no symptoms, while 20% experience fever and pain. Only 1% develop severe forms.
