"The OSCE report is neither meat nor fish", Spahiu: Elections in

Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu commented on the final OSCE-ODIHR report on the elections of May 11, 2025. Spahiu said that the fact that the OSCE continues to observe the elections, according to him, means that the country has not yet reached the democratic standards for the conduct of free and fair elections. He emphasized that in Albania, elections have been recognized even when they have been taken by force.

" Elections in Albania have been covered up by OSCE-ODIHR reports, even when they were dealing with Kalashnikovs in '97. The report for me is neither meat nor fish. Albania still needs the OSCE presence in the elections. The OSCE monitors elections in several European countries, including Albania. If Albania had free elections, the OSCE would not have an office in Albania. Are there problems? Of course there are ," he said on the 'Frontline' show on Report TV.

Spahiu also made a comparison of this report with election reports over the years.

"I will find some differences in the report. In the previous elections 8 years ago, it was said that Albanians received lek to vote. Today's report does not talk about buying and selling votes with money. It did not notice the problems of party financing, more than the Electoral Code allows. It does not establish the presence of foreigners in the campaign and the lack of financial transparency as well as criminal elements in the elections. La Civitan said that only the OSCE saw it, we all saw it ," he said.
