Our country was hit by heavy rainfall this Tuesday, causing road flooding in most of the country.
Anira Gjoni from the Institute of Geosciences, invited to the show 'Today Live in Albania', said that the improvement of this situation will take place starting on Thursday.
"Rainfall will continue this afternoon and tomorrow throughout the country. In the regions of Shkodër, Lezha, Vlora and Gjirokastër, we will have intense rainfall. In other regions, the rainfall will be average or locally intense. The increased intensity of rainfall will continue to bring increased flows in the Drin, Bunë, Mat, Vjosë, Shkumbi and Lake Shkodra rivers. The most critical situation remains in Shkodër and Lezha.
"It will be Thursday that will bring the cessation of rainfall and the gradual improvement of the situation - that is, the withdrawal of water. Problems will continue in the regions of Gjirokastër, Lezhë, Kukës - which, among other things, also include landslides in the mountainous areas of these regions," said Gjoni.
However, even though there will be no precipitation, the country will be under the influence of cold air masses, which will also bring a drop in temperatures.
"On Thursday and Friday, our country will be under the influence of cold air masses. We will have a drop in temperatures, but not as low as they were in the first week of January," said Gjoni.
The minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday are predicted to be:
In coastal areas 8/9 degrees Celsius;
In low areas 7/8 degrees Celsius;
In mountainous areas -3/0 degrees Celsius.
