Protests have returned to Rrjoll, as the site where Bashkim Ulaj will build the tourist resort has been surrounded with railings again. Dozens of residents of the area, supported by other citizens, protested, while numerous police forces have taken over the protection of the site.
"Albania of Albanians, death to traitors," are the cries raised at the Rrjoll protest, which have been heard every afternoon in Tirana for a month now.
A few weeks ago, the residents of Rrjoll managed to tear down the fences surrounding the area, but it seems that Ulaj and his company have put the fence back in place, while the residents claim that their properties are being stolen.
On the eve of the protest, Bashkim Ulaj's Gener 2 company has emphasized that it fully respects the constitutional right of citizens to protest peacefully. However, the company underlines that the exercise of this right should not be accompanied by acts of violence, damage to property or illegal interference in the investment territory.
The company calls on state institutions to take measures to guarantee order and security during today's protest, emphasizing the importance of preventing any unauthorized entry to the site or actions that could endanger employees and the progress of the project.
