Former MP Ervin Salianji has left the Fier prison after being released on bail. In a statement to the media, he said that his imprisonment was political.
Salianji said that he will continue to engage in politics, adding that he will take the battle all the way to Strasbourg.
" Every day I spend in prison is a denunciation of Rama's regime. Citizens will resist and overthrow a government that is criminalized. My days in prison show the rotten regime we live in. My fight against the regime has never stopped. The regime imprisoned me out of fear of losing, as much as can be called elections. The government has further weakened democracy in the country. My imprisonment was for political reasons ," he said.
