Analyst Skënder Minxhozi, commenting on the isolation of Sali Berisha at home after the court decision, he stated that the abandonment of the former prime minister had already started before the measure requested by SPAK.
In an interview for "Abc News", he stated that the abandonment of Berisha began with the disintegration of the Democratic Party and the repeated losses of this force during the last years. According to Minxhozi, PD has made wrong choices since 2013, when it chose Basha as the leader, as well as with the return of Berisha with the promise that he would win again.
" This is a process that does not begin with Berisha's house arrest and does not end here. A process that began with the disintegration of the Democratic Party, with its repeated losses of the last decade, with the never-healed dualism between Berisha and Basha in the party, and with that missing elite rotation that reached disturbing levels when Berisha decided on a advanced age to return to the head of the party, promising to win. It is not that Berisha is expressing his political impotence only in these hours that he is locked up at home. The problem is deeper than that, the DP has made wrong choices early on since 2023, it has installed a transitional president like Basha who did not meet any expectations, it has had Berisha as a regular godfather in every election and recently, Berisha has having the illusion that after the declaration of non grata, there will be popular discontent. He had the wrong illusion and made the next tactical error that I believe could offer his dwindling voters a victory that seems more distant than ever. Locking him in his house is a serious gesture not only for the immediate consequences it brings to the head of the party ," he said.
The analyst also added that the indifference that the citizens have shown shows that Berisha and Reestablishment are no longer an important factor.
" The main problem is that by closing themselves at home and consuming this act in a popular indifference, Berisha and Rithemelimi show that they are no longer a relevant factor in the general public opinion and it is strange how those voters who are behind them, and not they are few, they refuse to appear and be present in such delicate political moments not only for the political force but also for the politician they trust. I would say that the big problem is the image that is created around Berisha and the official DP itself and Reestablishment, that image of impotence that spoils a lot of work. Political power rests on the perception of power. And I believe that this blow that the re-establishment received with the closure of its head at home, I believe is a more intractable problem because the movements promised by the Re-establishment would have to be built on this popular reaction. If there is no reaction from people, it is a political theater that has no audience" , Minxhozi emphasized.
