The arrest of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is the most sensational made by SPAK, according to journalist and analyst Mentor Kika, even though a number of officials were handcuffed in the past year.
In the program "Jetë Shqiptare", on RTSH, Kikia said that the arrest of Berisha takes on a different connotation and political context where, as he pointed out, even the political opinion is divided whether we are dealing with an action of justice against corruption, or an action in favor of the majority.
" The most sensational case is the arrest of Mr. Berisha, a politician who has dominated the Albanian political scene both when he was in power and in the opposition. Although the accusations against him so far may not be compared to some former ministers, Mr. Berisha still takes on another connotation and the whole story has taken on a political context and political opinion is divided in two if we are dealing with an act of justice against corruption, or an act of justice to perform a political act in the service of the majority ," said Kikia.
According to him, Berisha "chose his own end", as he added that in the current conditions, the former prime minister only prevents the PD from resurfacing.
"Mr. Berisha has finished his story, he chose the end himself. It could have been different, but today he is under "house arrest" awaiting an investigation and facing justice. What Berisha can produce today is to prevent the PD from remaking itself ", Kikia emphasized.
