The situation is more problematic in the regions of Shkodër, Durrës, Dibër, Berat, Fier, Korçë and Gjirokastër.
Rain and snow have covered a large part of the country's territory, creating problems in several regions.
The National Civil Protection Agency has issued an official announcement on the situation created in our country.
According to the report, the situation appears to be most problematic in the regions of Shkodër, Durrës, Dibër, Berat, Fier, Korçë and Gjirokastër. In other regions of the country, the problems have been more limited and manageable.
Civil emergency structures, under the coordination of the Civil Protection Agency and the Ministry of Defense, are on the ground and are working to cope with the consequences and stabilize the situation.
In Shkodra Region , the rise in the level of the Drin, Kir and Buna rivers has led to increased water levels in the areas of Obot and Dajç, as well as flooding of agricultural lands in the Urrelat–Shirq area. The road axis connecting the village of Obot with the main road is impassable for low-speed vehicles. No flooding of homes has been reported, while the embankments, drainage channels and the Shkodra reservoir dam continue to be functional. The situation is being continuously monitored by local structures.
In Durrës Region , the situation is improving in the flooded areas of Sukthi and Katund i Ri. However, water continues to be present in about 1,800 hectares of agricultural land and in some homes in specific areas of Këneta and Shkozet. Interventions have been carried out to free up road axes and make dischargers functional to avoid further deterioration of the situation.
In Dibër District , snowfall has caused road blockages in several administrative units, as well as power outages in certain areas. Traffic on the main roads is being controlled, while work is being done to open and guarantee access on rural roads. Meanwhile, the search operation for a missing citizen continues, with the involvement of specialized forces.
In Berat Region , the increase in the flows of the Osum and Devoll rivers has led to flooding of agricultural lands, the presence of water in some homes and public buildings, as well as the evacuation of some families for safety reasons. The situation is being managed by local structures with the support of emergency forces.
In Fier Region, the Seman and Shkumbin rivers have overflowed their banks in several areas, flooding significant areas of agricultural land and affecting several homes. Municipal structures are on full alert and are assessing the need for additional measures.
Meanwhile, in the Korça and Gjirokastra regions, the problems are mainly related to landslides, infrastructure damage, road blockages and limited evacuations of some families in areas at risk. Field work continues to open road axes and eliminate the risk to residents.
The Armed Forces have been engaged in several regions of the country with specialized personnel and vehicles for emergency interventions, clearing blocked roads, evacuating residents, and supporting local authorities.
The National Civil Protection Agency calls on residents of affected areas to exercise maximum caution, avoid areas at risk of flooding or landslides, and follow the instructions of responsible institutions.
