Monika Kryemadhi and Ilir Meta

The preliminary hearing for the 'Meta' case was postponed to October 9. The reason for the postponement was the absence of Ilir Meta's defense attorney, Kujtim Cakrani. The latter had sent a request to the Court Secretariat for a postponement due to health problems.

Outside SPAK premises, Monika Kryemadhi stated that SPAK is intimidating witnesses.

Only former PL MP Monika Kryemadhi was present in the GJKKO hall, while her mother and ex-husband Meta were absent.

SPAK has taken on as defendants Ilir Meta, Monika Kryemadhi, her mother Fatime Kryemadhi, Pirro Xhixho and Ema Çoku, while judge Irena Gjoka will decide whether or not the file will go to trial.

Judge Gjoka was also attacked by Meta's party, as was Sali Berisha, while his defense attorney Kujtim Cakrani also demanded her resignation from the case. The Secretary General of the Freedom Party, Tedi Blushi, alluded that Gjoka was not selected by lot as the judge of the preliminary hearing but by Prime Minister Rama and the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, while attacking her with the same language as Berisha, labeling her a "recidivist delinquent" and an "anti-opposition suicide bomber."

And Gjoka himself requested his resignation from the former president's case, but it was not accepted by the chairman of the GJKKO, Erion Bani.

SPAK closed the investigations on July 28, while the file was sent for trial at the end of August, which included three investigations into a CEZ-DIA affair, LSI lobbying in the US and the property investigation. Meta and Kryemadhi are accused of passive corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets. Pirro Xhixho is accused of passive corruption of high-ranking officials committed in collaboration. While Fatime Kryemadhi is accused of money laundering, together with Ema Çoku.

Meta has been in prison since October of last year, while Kryemadhi is under house arrest. On September 8, the Appeal Court of Kosovo (GJKKO) rejected Meta's request for release from prison, upholding the August 13 decision of the First Instance Court, which argued that he could not be released because he could destroy evidence and intimidate witnesses. Even on September 19, after submitting another request, the GJKKO did not change the measure against him. The former President has also appealed to the Supreme Court, and the request will be reviewed on October 9.

Kryemadhi-Meta, now legally divorced, are accused of having exercised their power over the years to illegally acquire wealth and have hidden their source by using family members.
