SIGAL Pension Fund this month marks the 20th anniversary of its activity, the last 15 years as a private pension fund. Since SIGAL's entry in 2011, the funds under management have increased 20-fold, with a continuously increasing return curve and over 40 million euros in assets under management today. On this occasion, a short 14-minute documentary was also released about the journey and development of the Fund.
SIGAL INSURANCE GROUP CEO, Avni Ponari, emphasized that the creation of the fund was a visionary initiative in a fragile economic reality, when the concept of private pensions was still little known. According to him, the fund was built as a long-term savings instrument that gives citizens the opportunity for a supplementary pension alongside the state one, underlining the importance of developing other pension pillars for the financial future of Albanians. The congratulations of the SIGAL Insurance Group CEO also carried the vision for the longevity of the Sigal Fund project: “I wish once again the staff of the Pension Fund and all members of the fund success and celebration, just like in all of Europe, of the next 100-, 200- or 300-year anniversary”.
The testimony of musician Shkëlqim Arizi in the documentary brings a personal perspective on the importance of saving in a pension fund. As one of the hundreds of beneficiaries of a regular monthly pension in the Fund, he testifies that the monthly contributions to a private pension turned out to be a smart decision, which today provides him with a second pension and more peace of mind in his third age.
While the general advisor and one of the founders of the Fund, Naim Hasa, focused on the systemic role of private funds, describing them as a real solution to the challenges of the public system and for increasing well-being in old age. The Deputy Director of SIGAL Pension, Edmond Koçi, emphasized the practical forms of investment, from monthly contributions to immediate payments, as well as the flexibility and fiscal benefits for individuals and companies.
