The sudden increase in temperatures has increased the spread of fires in the country. During the last 24 hours, 24 fires have been reported, which according to the Ministry of Defense and the National Civil Protection Agency, have all been neutralized, after continuous work by operational forces on the ground.
These fires have been specifically identified in Vlora, Fier, Vau i Dejës, Malësi e Madhe, Rrogozhina, Durrës, Kuçovë, Lezha, Kurbin and Has.
The Ministry of Defense calls on all citizens to avoid starting fires, especially during these days when temperatures have reached up to 40 degrees Celsius.
"During the last 24 hours, 24 fires have been reported, all of which have been extinguished.
These fires have been identified in the municipalities of Vlora, Vau i Dejës, Malesia e Madhe, Rrogozhina, Durrës, Fier, Kuçova, Lezha, Kurbin and Has.
The fires have mainly affected vegetation, burning about 9 hectares of bushes and grass as well as 200 olive trees in the hearth identified in the village of Frakull, in the municipality of Fier.
In two cases, fires were reported in two apartments, one in the village of Zagorë, Malësi e Madhe municipality and the other in an uninhabited house in a place called "Mali i Kolajt", Velipojë. As a result, only material damage was caused.
32 firefighting vehicles and 223 operational forces were deployed in all firefighting operations.
For today, the Institute of Geosciences forecasts a "HIGH" risk level in the regions of Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, Berat and Fier, while in the other regions a "MODERATE" risk level is expected.
The entire civil protection system is monitoring the situation and ready to provide immediate support if necessary.
We invite citizens to show maximum caution and responsibility in these days of high temperatures and increased risk of fires. To avoid any action that could cause a fire, such as lighting fires in open spaces, burning waste or throwing flammable objects in nature.
Any fire incident must be immediately reported to local authorities.
"The cooperation of citizens is crucial for the protection of life, property and nature ," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
