The lawyer Jordan Daci said that for the first time justice in Albania is hitting the 'untouchables'.
Daci made the comments in Euronews Albania, where he said that SPAK is infringing the interests of hundreds of millions of dollars of criminal groups and big politicians.
He also said that the fight that SPAK is doing against crime in Albania is similar to the Italian anti-mafia fight.
" I believe that in 30 years this is the only moment that prosecutors can feel threatened. Because during 30 years there have been no genuine threats against prosecutors or judges. Because politics and the judiciary have not affected those we have called strong.
For the first time, hands are being laid on those who were untouchable. Staggering interests of hundreds of millions of dollars are violated. They touch upon the important ties of politics by which politics is kept alive. We are in a phase that resembles the war that started the Italian anti-mafia with its beginnings, although today it has turned into a completely different time context.
In this sense they are undoubtedly a potential target of attacks. But it is the duty of the prosecutor to face this part, including that of the judges. The state has shown the necessary support for prosecutors, with protection and logistics ," said Daci.
