Analyst Fatos Lubonja spoke about the situation in the Democratic Party, focusing on the race for the chairman of the political force, in the context where every candidate except Sali Berisha has been excluded from the competition.
Lubonja stated that the DP should work to unite the opposition front, while emphasizing that the figure of Berisha remains an obstacle to this goal, also due to the perception towards him.
Regarding the race, Lubonja stated that Berisha made a political mistake by not allowing Ervin Salianji in the race for the leadership of the DP.
According to him, the normal thing would be for the competition to take place and then, regardless of the result, for the participants' contribution to the party to continue.
"In my opinion, the DP led by Berisha should have worked openly to unite the opposition front. Berisha is known to be an obstacle due to the perception that he has. It is Berisha's political mistake that he did not include a figure like Salianji in the race. I do not think that Berisha was at risk in the elections. Berisha should have accepted the race, he did not accept it. The normal thing would have been the race, Salianji could then contribute to the party and compete later," he told "News 24".
