
The border point in Bërnjak has been opened for traffic since this morning, while the one in Jarinje continues to be blocked. Lajmine has confirmed the deputy director of the Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani.
Elshani said that this point has been opened for traffic since 08:00.
"Yes, the border point in Brënjak has been opened for traffic since 08:00 this morning. Jarinja continues to be closed", Elshani told Express. These two border points were closed to traffic after the terrorist attack on the Kosovo Police in the morning of September 24, where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
What happened in the north of Kosovo?
A member of the Kosovo Police was killed and 3 were injured in clashes with an armed group in the north of the country. Sergeant Bunjaku was killed in the ambush that the armed group took early in the morning at the entrance to the village of Banjské in Zveçan. During the exchange of fire, 2 other policemen were injured. Then the armed group of 30 members was placed in the monastery of Banjska where for hours, throughout the whole day on Sunday, shots were exchanged with the police.
In the evening, the interior minister of Kosovo declared that 4 attackers were killed. The three bodies of the Serbs were found on the same day, while the fourth one a day later. Meanwhile, six other people, who were suspected to be related to them, were arrested. A large amount of weaponry was also seized.
