Albanians choose the trade sector as the most preferred to do business, and this trend seems to be leading for years. Enterprises with commercial activity account for 26.5% of the total number of enterprises registered during the year 2022. Commercial activity also realizes the largest annual turnover in the economy, with 35.8%. Referring to INSTAT's publication, "Business Registers 2022", it results that at the end of the last year there are 125,222 active enterprises.
Most of these enterprises, approximately 43,885, are positioned in trade. Likewise, accommodation and food service occupy a considerable weight, a sector in which 17,452 enterprises operate.
Followed by industry with 9332 enterprises and construction with 6235 enterprises. Meanwhile, a lower number of enterprises represents the transport and storage sector as well as traffic information. The sector least liked by Albanian businesses is agriculture, forests and fishing, where only 1385 enterprises are active.
While the activities in other services occupy about 36 thousand. Likewise, if we analyze the figures of new registrations for the year 2022, where in total it turns out that 15,700 businesses were introduced to the market, again, the list is headed by activities in the field of trade, where 4,161 new businesses were registered, followed by from accommodation and food service.
While considerable interest translated into new registrations was had by the information and communication sector with about 1429 enterprises. About 64.8% of enterprises are concentrated in the districts of Tirana, Durrës and Vlorë, while Kukës District has the lowest number.
