The day was dominated by strong political developments at home and abroad. The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, met with a delegation from the European People's Party (EPP), while warning that the February 28 protest will be "different", describing the Socialist Party as a "criminal organization".
In Brussels, SPAK leader Klodian Braho participated in the Justice and Security Committee meeting, where the European Union requested concrete evidence for advancing the fight against corruption and organized crime.
In terms of justice, the High Inspectorate of Justice launched a disciplinary investigation against the judge of the GJKKO, Irena Gjoka, who stated to the Supreme Court of Justice that she was not aware of a previous conviction in Greece.
The debate on infrastructure returned after the collapse of the Librazhd–Prrenjas segment. The World Bank criticized the transport situation, while Skopje announced that trucks have started circulating from the Bllata point. MP Jorida Tabaku accused the government of 3.8 billion euros spent on roads without results, stating that “we have golden roads that are crumbling” and that the southeast has been isolated as in wartime.
Meanwhile, an Austrian media outlet deleted an article claiming the existence of an intimate video of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, news that circulated on several Albanian portals without verified evidence.
There were also tensions on the ground, where in the area known as "Rrjolli" residents clashed with police in an attempt to stop construction on a resort; six people were arrested and reportedly injured.
On the international scene, Albania is expected to send 300 troops to the Gaza mission as part of the “Peace Board” initiative, at a cost of around 100 million euros per year. The US declared several businesses in Tirana “non-grata” for security reasons, while Germany cancelled over 8,000 residence permits, 661 of them for Albanian citizens.
In Kosovo, the seizure of 1 million euros at the border with Serbia led to the suspension of officer Aurel Kaziu. Meanwhile, Glauk Konjufca declared that a presidential candidate from the Jashari family would be approved by full consensus, in the face of Vjosa Osmani's bid for a second term.
In the US, Donald Trump declared that Iran has missiles that can hit Europe, while in the "Epstein" case, over 90 FBI interviews are reported to have disappeared, and Bill Gates apologized for his ties to the late financier.
