Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu has commented on the recent decisions taken by the judiciary. Jamarbër Malltezi was released, while Veliaj and Meta are still in prison. According to Spahiu, the imprisonment of Ilir Meta and Erion Veliaj is related to their "abandonment" by the leadership of their respective parties.
" I think that both Veliaj and Meta are victims of the same process. The DP and the SP no longer want them on their feet. I don't think it's just the will of the Prosecution. There are other reasons because in the end it's the 3 levels of the court that left the measure (for Ilir Meta) valid. Despite the temporary coalitions that Berisha and Rama have made, with Ilir Meta over the years, they have also had an enemy or opponent. At some point, the conditions became too bad and they eliminated him, abandoned him ," said Spahiu.
Regarding rumors that Edi Ram is preparing for early elections in Tirana, Spahiu stated that the only way is for Veliaj to resign.
" The law is taxing: Early elections in Tirana cannot be announced unless the mayor dies, resigns or is sentenced by a final court decision. Erion Veliaj has not died, has not resigned, has not yet been sentenced by a final court decision ," said Spahiu.
