Political scientist Ilir Kalemaj commented on the statement of the mayor Erion Veliaj regarding the arrest for corruption of some of his directors for the "5D" affair.
While considering the statement as paradoxical, Kalemaj said that Veliaj supported the directors who have devoured millions, but at the same time said that he is not responsible for them.
As for the Prime Minister's reaction, he emphasized that Rama and Veliaj are in unison with each other, while he stated that the latter's message was partially coded.
"Obviously there were more or less two messages that were clear first that he was supporting the important directors of the municipality who have been gobbling up public money by listing their successes and saying that they are part of the team, but on the other hand he was implying that if they have eaten figs and pears behind his back, he is not responsible. A little paradoxical when you say that they are your close associates and bear no responsibility. They have had full support and coverage. Moving on to the second part of Veliaj's statement, he implied that it is the same thing that happened to Rama with Ahmetaj. We can read this from the most different ways of blackmail and threats, but I have said that Rama and Veliaj are in unison with each other, I have not seen any division between them. In this sense, I don't see any attack or avoidance of Rama towards Veliaj, and even coming out immediately after Veliaj's reaction was another confirmation that Rama gave him." - said Kalemaj.
He further said that Rama and Veliaj declare that they have raised the law to judge them, as according to him, this is still a trial test for SPAK.
"Of course this is repeated, what Rama said is the repetition that SPAK has a support from the beginning to the end which is SP and Veliaj is on the same wavelength to say that we are the architects of SPAK, we created it and we stand by it the verdict that justice will give. Politically it is okay, but if we play the devil's advocate, they raise the question that our party, our justice will judge us? Of course, there have been such accusations of political control in justice, but beyond that it must be said that beyond the limitations and functioning of SPAK, it has become an emblem of justice due to the high profile cases of politics and corruption. Then how well these issues will be considered and judged remains to be seen, it is still the test of proof." - said the political scientist.
Asked if Veliaj seemed frightened by this investigation and do you think SPAK will go to the mayor, Kalemaj said that his reaction 7 days after the event was justified by the surgical intervention. He said that Veliaj has asked to buy time, but according to him what he should do is to resign due to disability.
"Veliaj was justified with a surgical intervention that he performed on the very day that the directors of the municipality were arrested. This is called being born with a shirt. So in this sense, Veliaj used the surgical intervention to gain some time. But how does it seem when faced with the facts and the protest and a good part of the media that has put it as its headline has reacted because at the moment when all the important directors of the institution are arrested, a reaction is needed. If Veliaj believes the verbatim of what he said, he should be fired for incompetence for not being able to choose a colleague who does not eat pears behind his back. At a minimum, he should be dismissed by the prime minister for incompetence or resign. This is the minimum, but I do not believe that Veliaj will resign, but the defense that Rama made today also excludes the dismissal. The Veliaj clan is important in the elite of the Socialist Party." - said Kalemaj.
