The Ombudsman has reacted to the death of 41-year-old Bedrie Loka in Durrës 4 days ago as a result of phototoxin consumption, for the Ombudsman it is a sign to raise the alarm about the need for immediate intervention.
In the reaction on social networks, the Ombudsman says that a society that rejects bullying should be built, stressing that such a thing should not be allowed.
"The serious incident of a woman's suicide in Albania, as a result of personal insult and denigration on a social platform, was deeply shocking and should serve as a strong alarm for the need for immediate intervention.
Accepting a reality where we all have sensitivity and vulnerability is the essence of a healthy community, the opposite is bullying!
The rejection of bullying and all its forms must be at the core of our values and the social response to this tragedy must be more than a superficial response; it should be a permanent commitment to create a benevolent environment.
At a time when technology is an integral part of our lives, we must keep in mind the essence of humanity and mutual respect. Insults and bullying cannot be tolerated!
"Social understanding" should be more than a phrase; it should be a principle that determines our daily behavior.
The Ombudsman makes a dedicated appeal to the entire community of social media platforms, to build a protective environment and show care for the emotional well-being of all citizens", the announcement states.
