Invited to the podcast "Të Pashoq" on Pamflet's "Youtube" channel, political scientist and analyst Fitim Zekthi rejected the possibility of new parties overthrowing the old political system.
According to him, the new parties do not have the strength, resources and means necessary to make this rotation. For Zekthi, there is only one opponent for the old political elite, and according to him, that is SPAK.
Zekthi states that both Rama and Berisha sense the danger posed by SPAK and for this reason one attacks it, while the other tries to keep it under control. The analyst further emphasized that SPAK's fight against the elite depended on the support of the US, which according to him is fortunately present after a short absence.
"First, our political system is closed. What does closed mean? Closed means that a political elite, which has changed power from one to the other, has produced the same economic and media base, that is, clientelistic businesses. The media serves this elite, which I am calling as such, and this elite is threatened by SPAK. Then it becomes more savage and more consolidated. Even the mentality of the people and, together with other laws, functions to keep this elite afloat. Therefore, this closed system is difficult for a new party to break through. It does not have the right tools. So, the resources of the system are such that they do not allow a new party to develop. It lacks the economic, media base and even the connection with crime. Both major parties have the same economic, media base, the same crime base and the same language. This makes it much more difficult to break through the system.
SPAK is an alternative. So, the only danger for Albanian politics is the SPAK Special Prosecution, which is undoubtedly their biggest enemy, and this is noticed daily by both sides. Rama does everything to prevent SPAK from breathing, Berisha attacks it daily, the DP attacks it daily, because both sides are affected by it. Ministers, former ministers, MPs, senior officials, etc. Now, this will depend a lot on international support. Fortunately, the Americans have not withdrawn their support for SPAK ," said Zekthi.
