The arrested former mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, has reacted from prison regarding the partial elections that are being held today in this municipality.

He has expressed that his heart is in Himara today, where "members of the Greek ethnic minority are fighting the final battle for Democracy and their rights".

Among other things, Beleri has appealed for participation in the vote, as he adds that history is written by those who participate.

"Voting centers are open!

My heart is in Himare today. Where today the members of the Greek ethnic minority are fighting the final battle for Democracy and their rights.

From the cell of the Albanian prison where I am staying for 425 days, my thoughts all day will be with my brothers and all those who understand that the rule of law and democracy are non-negotiable. To all those who have expressed their sympathy and stood by me through this ordeal. With all those who did not bow to the methods of the coup d'état and the pre-democratic logic and today they will prove it once again.

Success from the heart Petro Gjikuria. He proved to be a techno worthy of Himara already. I am sure that our own hands will safely lead our City Hall tomorrow.

And one last appeal: go and vote. History is written by those who participate," says Beler's post.
