The director catapulted by Devolli to an elite hospital, for her own interests or whims, destroys a professional structure that is one of the best in the country...
Chaos at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana. The former deputy of the SP, Edlira Bode, who was appointed director after leaving the mandate, has completely changed the professional hierarchy of this unique health institution in the country.
Bode has sidelined the best doctors, specialized in the most famous universities in Europe and the USA, and with a long experience, replacing them with friends, militants, but also with her staff.
This act of the director who was catapulted by Devolli to an elite hospital, without ever being a doctor there, has rightly caused clashes and controversy from doctors who are also the elite of Albanian health.
This is not only an arbitrary action, but in the first place it is an open violation of the law.
The Trauma Hospital is a national health institution that has dual dependence on the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense. This is because some of the doctors are part of the former military hospital that was destroyed by the government of Sali Berisha, followed by the government of Edi Rama.
The former deputy director, who has been in this role for two years, instead of reorganizing this institution to make it as efficient and functional as possible, has created a real organizational mess.
This is immediately visible as soon as you step into the pavilions and surroundings of this institution, which resemble a giant silo where chaos reigns.
And there was no way it could happen otherwise, since it was never based on the best professionals, and on those doctors who tried for years and years to protect and save this jewel of Albanian health for years.
She kept people connected to the old power who destroyed the Military Hospital, giving a private part of it, and who turned it into a group of taverns in all the Hospital's wards.
The Military Hospital is an elite institution of Albanian Health since the time of communism. After the overthrow of the dictatorship, his doctors immediately adapted to the new system, establishing ties with NATO.
It was the Atlantic Alliance, which over the years has spent millions not only to equip the hospital, but primarily to train and specialize the doctors of this institution.
Almost all the doctors of the Military Hospital specialized in the best universities of military medicine in the USA, Germany, or other European countries.
Military medicine is quite specific, as it consists of a treatment for diagnoses resulting from war, gun wounds, but primarily, to treat the patient in an emergency and traumatic situation. It was precisely this ability of the doctors of the Military Hospital that brought it a high grade from NATO, calling it one of the best in the Western Balkans.
But Fatmir Mediu, when he was the Minister of Defense, removed this institution from the army, gave it to the Ministry of Health, to take part of it to the private sector. This caused a revolt among the best doctors of the institution, who are among the most specialized in the country. And that they did everything to protect him. Edi Rama and Ilir Beqja, at that time in the opposition, visited the hospital and promised the doctors that they would save him when they came to power, which did not happen.
Even the funds that only the doctors had benefited from the NATO partners and that were collected at a later time, it is not known where they ended up.
The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, who was the director of the Trauma Hospital, also graduated from this hospital and it must be said that he managed to keep the core of professionals strong. Bringing the last word of the diagnostic devices, and removing the rumors that the director of Berisha had filled the Military Hospital. President Begaj, as well as a significant number of Trauma Hospital doctors, were military by rank, thus maintaining a core of military-related professionals.
Especially at a time like today, where war is on the horizon, and Albania has turned into a NATO tactical base, the military hospital is an imperative that must be returned immediately. But what does the former deputy director do; for its own interests or whims, it destroys a professional structure that is one of the best in the country./ Pamphlet
