US President Joe Biden has said he believes a deal to release the Gaza hostages is close amid media reports of a possible hostage exchange deal between Israel and Hamas.
Asked by reporters during a White House ceremony if a deal to release the hostages in Gaza, Biden said he believes it will happen soon.
However, Biden did not provide further details, stressing that he is "not prepared to talk".
On Saturday, the Washington Post reported that Israel, the US and Hamas have agreed to a tentative deal to release dozens of hostages in exchange for a five-day pause.
"We have not yet reached an agreement, but we continue to work hard to reach an agreement," National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson wrote on social media platform X.
On Sunday, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said a hostage exchange deal between Israel and Hamas is imminent.
Hamas is believed to be holding at least 239 hostages after the October 7 cross-border offensive. The Palestinian group says it is ready to release the hostages in exchange for thousands of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
