High-ranking representatives from Washington and Tehran are expected to discuss Iran's nuclear program in Oman today.
US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are expected to attend the opening of the dialogue, which is being mediated by the Sultanate of Oman.
According to Iranian sources, the talks will take place indirectly with the help of a mediator, although there may be a direct meeting between Wittkoff and Araghchi.
The meeting in Oman marks the first significant progress in years in negotiations over Iran's nuclear program.
US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with military action if Tehran does not reach a new deal to curb its nuclear program.
