The World Health Organization has called for an urgent ceasefire after it managed to restore communication with health professionals at Al-Sifah hospital in northern Gaza.
The director general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom, through a post on the "X" platform, announced that the hospital has ceased to function. He added that the world cannot remain silent at a time when hospitals are being bombed and turned into ruins full of the dead.
" WHO managed to contact health professionals at Al Shifa hospital in Gaza. The situation is serious and dangerous.
It has been 3 days with no electricity, no water and very poor internet, which has seriously affected our ability to provide care. The continuous bombings and attacks in the area have worsened the already critical conditions.
Unfortunately, the number of patient deaths has increased significantly. Unfortunately, the hospital no longer functions as a medical center. The world cannot remain silent while hospitals, which should be safe havens, turn into scenes of death, destruction and despair. Stop the attacks. NOW ", wrote the head of the WHO.
Patients are on the streets without treatment after forced evacuations at two Palestinian hospitals, the director of the Gaza Strip's medical institutions said earlier Sunday.
. @WHO has managed to get in touch with health professionals at the Al-Shifa hospital in #Gaza .
