British Foreign Secretary David Cameron arrived in the Middle East to hold talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders about a deal to release hostages and provide more humanitarian aid to Gaza.
This is Cameron's first visit to the region since returning to government last week. The former prime minister took over as Britain's foreign secretary while the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, gave the job of home secretary to James Cleverley after Suella Braverman was sacked for criticizing the police over its handling of pro-Palestinian protests.
Cameron met his counterparts from Arab and Islamic countries in London on Wednesday to discuss the Israel-Hamas conflict.
At a conference, the group of representatives from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Turkey, Nigeria and Palestine said Western powers on the UN Security Council were being asked to choose: either ask Israel to lift the aid embargo humanitarian aid in Gaza or become complicit in Israel's war crimes.
