Several eyewitnesses have spoken out about the tragedy in Kocani, North Macedonia. There are currently 59 reported victims of the fire at a discotheque.
They told local media that they first heard screaming and then helped the young people as much as they could.
"We were worried. There were some young people nearby who had gone out and were staying here. As a matter of fact, it is a disaster for the entire state. My son saved as many people as he could," said a witness.
Meanwhile, her son said that they helped save the young people with the capacities they had, while taking them to the hospital in his personal vehicle.
"I sent some of them to the hospital. In cars, with these opportunities that we have. I heard that something was happening because they started screaming and running away," he said.
North Macedonia's Interior Minister, Pance Toshkovski, stated today that the number of victims from the Kocani tragedy has reached 59, while the number of injured has increased to 155.
