The suspected perpetrator of the murder of the American rapper Tupac appears

Duane Keith Davis, accused of killing the most famous rapper of the 90s, Tupac Shakur, has appeared before the court.

Duane Keith Davis, 60, was handcuffed, wearing a dark blue jail uniform and orange plastic slippers Wednesday at the Las Vegas Regional Justice Center.

In the court session, it was anticipated that the trial on the charge of murder would begin, but the session was postponed. Duane Keith Davis was arrested last week, nearly 3 decades after killing rapper Tupac.

A casino brawl involving Tupac and Davis' nephew Orlando Anderson led to the rapper's murder. Davis' home in Henderson was searched in July as part of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department's ongoing investigation into Tupac's murder.

Police believe Duane Keith Davis orchestrated a plan to commit the crime with several other people. He had long admitted his involvement in the murders, boasting that he was the "commander in chief" in the attempt to kill Shakur and Death Row Records boss Mario "Suge" Knight in retaliation for an attack on his nephew.

Shakur was only 25 years old when he died. He died on September 13, 1996, a week after he was shot four times in his car while waiting at a red light.

The death of the rapper, one of the most respected in hip-hop, has inspired several documentaries. Shakur sold more than 75 million records worldwide, enjoying chart success with hits including California Love, All Eyez On Me and Changes.
