A senior diplomat has stated that it would not make sense to develop an armed conflict between China and the United States, as such a war, according to him, would destroy all humanity.
Concerns about tensions between Beijing and Washington have escalated this year, especially after China has significantly increased its military presence in the South China Sea, near self-governing Taiwan.
While Beijing considers the island its own, and the United States has virtually no formal diplomatic relations with it, it remains Taiwan's most important military backer.
China considers that America is trying to deepen its unofficial relationship with Taiwan, and this infuriates it.
" If anyone dares to separate Taiwan from China, the People's Liberation Army will go into action to fight and protect the unity and territorial integrity of the country at all costs ," a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defense said earlier.
Admiral Philip Davidson, the top US military officer in Asia, stated in March that China could invade Taiwan within 6 years. This whole situation has raised the question of whose side Russia will take, which itself is in tense relations with America.
The Russian ambassador in Beijing, Andrey Denisov, said that there can be no answer to this question, since there will not be an armed conflict between China and the US, just as there cannot be an armed conflict between Russia and the US. since in such a case "everyone would be exterminated".
