The Milan prosecutor's office has opened an investigation for political-military espionage in the case of a Russian-made drone that allegedly flew 5 times during March over the European Commission's Joint Research Center in Ispra, on Lake Maggiore, in the province of Varese.
The investigation, currently against unknown persons, has been delegated to the Carabinieri of the ROS (special operational group).
Regarding the Russian drone, the Milan prosecutor's office has raised suspicions that the drone "could cause serious damage to a country or an international organization and was carried out with the aim of intimidating the population." The drone is said to have flown over the EU Commission's Joint Research Center on Lake Maggiore, with the flights reportedly taking place over the course of a week.
