Two men and a woman were found dead in a residential building in Weitefeld (Altenkirchen district) in Germany.
The perpetrator is still at large, while German media reports that police are only looking for one person. According to investigators, there is no specific risk to the population, but residents in Weitefeld and the surrounding area are being asked to stay home and not go out. Police are also warning against picking up hitchhiking passengers.
"We received a report that three people had been found dead at 3:45 a.m. We are currently assuming a criminal offense," a police spokesman told BILD.
The background to the crime is still completely unclear and is the subject of investigation.
"We were informed by an emergency call at around 3:45 this morning that there had apparently been a violent crime at a property here in Weitefeld. Our colleagues then found three people dead at the scene. As we approached the property, one person ran away. This is the person we are still looking for at the moment," says police spokesman Jürgen Fach.

"The victims are two men and a woman. We have evidence that they were killed with a gun and a knife," said Jürgen Fachinger.
Vehicles entering or leaving the city are currently being checked. A police helicopter is also circling the area. In addition, police are heavily patrolling the surrounding towns.
