What can you do in China when you're stupid?
Serbian President in China /

The Serbian president in China, in a desperate attempt for international attention, remains symbolically in the corner, while for the Serbian media he was "in the spotlight"...

This was the title of an editorial by Serbian journalist Dragoljub Petrović in the online media 'Danas.rs' today. (What can you do in China when you're a fool)

In October 2015, Dragan J. Vučićević, one of the figures closest to the regime in Belgrade and owner of the tabloid "Informer", publicly called Aleksandar Vučić a "fool" if he dared to go on an official visit to China.

According to him, Vučić's visit to China would mean an inevitable coup in Belgrade, orchestrated by the "political, criminal, police and media mafia."

Ten years later, Aleksandar Vučić is back in China and the coup, as before, remains only part of the "Informer's" imagination.

But this time, things are different. The Serbian president seems to have gone there not to build equal diplomatic relations, but to show himself (and the media he brought with him) that he is "one of the most important at the summit."

In the Chinese reality, Vučić was treated as an invisible servant among world autocrats: in the official photo of leaders, he was placed at the end of the row, in the corner, where the camera barely captures him.

In the forefront were the "cream of global autocracy," while Vučić, in the background, seemed to be saying to himself: "Maybe it was really stupid to come here."

Vučić, in an attempt to manipulate public opinion in Serbia, launched a propaganda campaign in media outlets such as 'Pink' and 'Informer', claiming that in China "they know, love and respect him more than anyone else in the region". He even declared that "even the street dogs in Beijing wag their tails in love when they see him".

According to Vučić, Serbia was among the “two most popular countries at the summit,” even though the photo showed otherwise. In fact, if we are to believe Vučić, China must have given up on basketball legend Yao Ming to put Serbian “Yao Mi” in his place, Vučić, since in Chinese “Yao Mi” means “jao si ga ne” – a despondent expression often used by Serbian citizens when talking about him.

Petrović's satirical conclusion is clear: if you are not taken seriously at a world forum, then take television and propaganda portals with you, and invent a parallel reality where you are the "star of the summit."/ Pamphlet
