A member of Israel's war cabinet, Benny Gantz, has condemned the International Criminal Court prosecutor's decision to apply for an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over Israel's military campaign in Gaza.
"The State of Israel is waging one of the most just wars in modern history following a reprehensible massacre carried out by the terrorist Hamas on October 7. As Israel struggles with one of the strictest moral codes in history, while respecting international law and boasting a strong independent judiciary -- drawing parallels between the leaders of a democratic country determined to defend itself from the abhorrent terror of to the leaders of a bloodthirsty terrorist organization is a deep distortion of justice and an open moral bankruptcy ," said Benny Gantz in a statement.
Gantz said that this arrest warrant is a crime in itself which, according to him, will be remembered in history for generations.
" The prosecutor's position to apply for an arrest warrant is in itself a crime of historical proportions that will be remembered for generations ," he concluded.
The charges against Netanyahu and Gallant include "causing extermination, causing starvation as a method of warfare, including denying humanitarian aid supplies, by deliberately targeting civilians in conflict."
