US President Donald Trump spoke about the situation in the Middle East and Hezbollah's rejection of the new ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
Responding to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he had not received a rejection from Hezbollah, and added that things would move soon there as well.
" They didn't turn me down. I'll tell you, they called us and said, 'What if we stop? I think you'll see things happen there, '" Trump said.
Trump was further asked by reporters if he would meet with Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, he responded negatively but added that if a deal were reached he would meet with him.
"I don't want to meet. But if I did, I would be honored to meet him. But if we make a deal, it's possible that I could meet him. I would be okay with that ," the US president said.
Trump further added that he is not sure whether he would welcome the supreme leader to the US, but stressed that he would "show respect."
Asked whether Khamenei would not want to meet after his family was killed in the first US attacks on Iran on February 28, Trump ironically stated that he was not his favorite person.
"I would say I'm not his favorite person. But, having said that, he's probably a pro in some circles. In fact, he has a very good reputation ," Trump said.
