The Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico, has reacted after the assassination of former President Donald Trump, saying that he sees many similarities with the attack on him about two months ago.

"A script like a photocopy," wrote Fico, who was shot four times as he greeted supporters after a cabinet meeting in Slovakia.

Fico underwent surgery and returned to duty last week. He accused the Slovak opposition of inciting hatred against him.

"If the author of the attack on Donald Trump spoke Slovak, it would be enough for him to read the (local) newspapers Dennik N, Sme or Aktuality, to have the desire to fix things .

"Trump's political opponents are trying to shut him up, and when they don't succeed, they enrage the public so much that a bad guy grabs his gun," said the Slovak prime minister.
